Graco 4Ever 4-in-1 Convertible Car Seat Review

Who is the Graco 4Ever Convertible Car Seat Designed for?

The 4-in-1 seat is made to grow with your little one, which means that it offers years of usage. It can even transition to a booster, with or without the back. The weight range it can accommodate is 4-120 pounds so that it can be used for as long as a decade. The specific weight range varies between rear-facing, forward-facing, and booster. A family looking on a budget will appreciate the extended use of the single seat over the years.

Convertible Car Seat Features and Specs

As with our other top 10 car seat reviews, we look at the Graco 4Ever’s top attributes. The leading 3 features are:

  • Converts to Booster
  • Simply Safe Adjust Harness
  • Greco’s Exclusive InRight Latch

The seat’s lowest harness height is 7 inches, which includes the infant insert, with the highest height being 18 inches. The baby seat measures 20 x 21.5 x 24 inches. It has a neutral pattern that will suit any vehicle interior.

Is the Graco 4Ever the Safest Convertible Car Seat?

This seat features the Simply Safe Adjust Harness System, which is made to adjust to your child’s height. In combination with its 10-position headrest, this seat enables you to secure your child into the vehicle properly. The result is superior safety. Plus, the headrest is simple to adjust using only one hand.

It is also engineered and tested to US safety standards; it meets Federal Safety Standard FMVSS 213 for the child restraint system. And in case of impact, the seat contains an energy absorbing foam called EPS. The build is also strong, thanks to a steel-reinforced frame. Please note that for safest use the Latch weight limit for a child is 42 pounds.

The 5-point harness system also helps safeguard against side impacts. Plus, the level indicator at the side of the seat helps you get the right angle for the car seat when putting it into the car.

Pros & Cons of the Graco 4Ever Convertible Car Seat

Amongst the many positive points is the versatility of this seat. The 4-in-1 baby seat can position forward or backward, as well as transition into a high-back booster and backless booster. There are 3 recline positions for front-facing and 3 for rear-facing.

Also, it is easy to use, with two different ways to install the seat in the vehicle. Graco’s exclusive InRight latch system enables an easy attachment for a secure installation. Just listen for the sound of the click. Then when using it as a booster, simply attach the seat to the seatbelt and feel the secure pull. All of this adds up to peace of mind that your child is safely positioned in the automobile. This installation rivals the fast 60-second installation of the Symphony DLX All-in-One Car Seat that also transitions into a booster.

Check Price

A minor drawback though is that this seat is not removable while in a reclined position. The problem comes if the young child is sleeping as the seatback would have to be raised up to remove it from the vehicle, which would wake them up. Also, the level that says the seat is installed correctly is only on one side of the seat; it would be helpful to have it on both sides so that it is easy to see when both rear- and front-facing.

But those flaws may be overshadowed by other positive attributes, including the seat cover that easily removes to clean, without any rethreading of the harness straps. The cover is machine-washable. There are two cup holders too, which is great for your child to practice drinking themselves or if they get thirsty while in the car.

Graco 4Ever Convertible Car Seat Conclusions

This convertible car seat has many benefits, including its 4-in-1 functionality. It can adapt to your growing child, giving a parent about 10 years of use. This eliminates having to buy a booster later to replace a baby car seat as you would if choosing the Chicco NextFit iX instead. The NextFit iX accommodates up to 65 pounds, rather than the 120-pound limit of the Graco 4Ever. For these reasons, we think this is a high-value car seat. Plus it’s easy to use. Thus, it can save a family both money and time.

Also, Graco 4Ever is among the safest convertible car seat reviews. While it has a few small flaws, its many safety features overshadow them, as they are more important, in our opinion. For example, there is an exclusive Simply Safe Adjust Harness, as well as a 5-point harness and level indicator. The seat is well thought-out design-wise for maximum child safety. Considering all of these points, we consider the Graco 4Ever Convertible Car Seat as a worthwhile investment.

Britax Marathon Convertible Car Seat Review

Main Features of the Britax Marathon ClickTight

We think the Marathon ClickTight seat is attractive in neutral coloring. The seat can be rear facing or forward facing. It is 18.5 inches wide, 23.5 inches high, and 23 inches deep. Its main features are:

  • 14-Position Harness
  • SafeCell Impact Protection
  • 7 Recline Positions

Who is This Convertible Car Seat Meant For?

The Marathon ClickTight can be for a child from infancy through the preschool period. When in the rear-facing position, this Brexit model is designed to hold a child 5-40lbs. For forward facing, 22-65lbs (provided the 22lb child walks unassisted). The seat will work for children with a standing height of 49 inches or less. For seated shoulder height, rear facing accommodates 7.6-16.95 inches, while forward facing is 12-18.65 inches.

As you will note in this Britax Marathon convertible car seat review, it has many safety features, including SafeCell Impact Protection, which make this model ideal for parents who want the peace of mind that comes with a safer seat. It will also appeal to those who want a seat that is very easy to install in a vehicle properly.

Britax Convertible Car Seat Benefits

Comfort for your little one is a big benefit of choosing this Britax model, in our opinion. The convertible car seat has plush foam padding for your little one’s bottom. And it features a 14-position harness, which means there are several ways to get your child a comfy position while keeping them safe in the car. The 14 positions are far more than the NextFit iX’s 5-point harness. Furthermore, there are 7 different recline positions so when your young one wants to nap it’s easier to find that exact position they like.

Safety is the other big benefit. Unlike the other top 10 convertible car seat reviews, this Britax model has cutting-edge SafeCell Impact Protection. The built-in safety parts provide superior protection for your kid, from the energy-absorbing base and harness to the steel frame and the staged-release stitches that slow down motion during a crash. This seat also has a deep shell lined with foam to help protect your child from side impact, if there was an accident.

And that’s not all for safety. The built-in ClickTight Installation System ensures the seat won’t move anywhere, and an anti-rebound bar limits the rotation of the seat when rear-facing if a crash were to occur.

Marathon ClickTight Convertible Car Seat Pros & Cons

On the pro side is the ease with which the Britax convertible car seat installs. The ClickTight system ensures the seat correctly installs every time, for a safer ride, and that it’s simple to do so by buckling the seat belt. The simplicity applies to both forward-facing and rear-facing positions in the vehicle. The Graco 4Ever 4-in-1 lacks the ClickTight system, using a latch instead, which can be more cumbersome to install.

Also, the 14-position harness ensures that as your child grows you will be able to continue to use the car seat. Just adjust it for the additional height, so your little one continues to travel comfortably. And then if there’s an unexpected stain or a spill on the fabric, the cover removes to clean it. All of this makes for extended usability that puts the Britax model amongst the leaders for high-value convertible car seat reviews, in our eyes.

As we offer honest details about every convertible car seat we review, we will also point out a few small limitations about the Marathon ClickTight. Some convertible car seat reviews posted online, for example, have issues tightening the shoulder straps, including uneven tightening between the right and left straps. Also, while there is a latch install, Britax has not used premium ones because the ClickTight is much easier to use. A problem then can arise if you prefer latch install as it can take some extra effort for correct positioning. The ClickTight system gets many positive mentions from parents on the web who explain it’s a breeze to use.

What is Unique

Automatic level indicator. This easy to read lever on the side of the seat gets the ideal installation angle for your specific automobile, whether it is forward facing or rear facing. Thus, you get not only an easier installation of the seat than some other models but also a correct installation every time.

Also, the ClickTight Installation system is not something every child seat has. It correctly positions the seat simply by buckling the seatbelt, with just a single click. It is easy to use, and a parent has peace of mind that the youngster is safely secure in the car seat.

Britax Marathon ClickTight Car Seat Conclusion

After evaluating the Britax convertible car seat for safety, comfort and other attributes, we can honestly say that it offers excellent value. The harness is designed to grow with your child, offering years of use. It is easy to buckle into place too, so its average latch system won’t be problematic for most parents.

Plus, the seat has unique attributes not listed in other convertible car seat reviews, including the automatic level indicator. Given all of its features, the Britax Marathon ClickTight Car Seat is one that we recommend for children meeting the height and weight requirements.

Safety 1st Convertible Car Seat Review

How the Safety 1st Convertible Car Seat is Unique

This baby seat makes it easy to get your child in and out of the car. If they are sleepy or you’re in a rush, being able to transport the youngster quickly is very handy. This seat features harness holders to keep the harness open so you can quickly remove the child, whether the seat is in a rear facing or front facing position.

Main Features of the Grow and Go 3-in-1

The child seat measures 24 x 19 x 23.8 inches. As with our other top 10 convertible car seat reviews, we list the top 3 features. In our opinion, the leading attributes of this Safety 1st seat are:

  • Includes Harness Holders
  • Extra Room when Rear-Facing
  • Lightweight Car Seat

What Families Will Like This Baby Seat?

This Safety 1st convertible car seat will appeal to a family who wants a seat that can transition with the baby to toddler. As its name suggests, the Grow and Go 3-in-1 goes from forward-facing and rear-facing positions for babies and young children to a booster for slightly older kids. So, the “3-in-1” refers to its three positions: forward-facing, rear-facing, and booster.

It is also amongst the lighter seats on the market at 18.7 pounds. So it is easier to carry to and from the vehicle than some heavier models we feature in our convertible car seat reviews, such as the Graco 4Ever 4-in-1 that weighs 23 pounds.

Another benefit for parents to appreciate is that the seat is machine washable. It is dryer safe too, enabling a quick clean if your young kid spills on the seat or accidentally stains it. The cover is easily removable without having to undo the harness.

Looking for the Best Convertible Car Seat

In your search for the best convertible car seat, evaluate the pros and cons of the model you’re considering for purchase. If it is this Safety 1st child seat, a positive attribute is that it can adjust with your child as they grow. The rear-facing position is for a child weighing 5-40 pounds; forward-facing is up to max 65 pounds; booster is up to 100 pounds. As the child grows, adjust the harness and headrest height according to the manual for optimal safety. In all positions, the child can use the two integrated cup holders, which is convenient for holding juice boxes to keep your little one from getting thirsty.

The chair adjusts how it holds the child in place, depending on the position you use. For rear-facing and front-facing, the seat has a comfortable and secure 5-point harness to hold the child in the seat. Just click and buckle the harness to safely position it, without any pinching like with some other seat models. The booster uses the vehicle’s seat belt to hold them instead. While installation of this seat is fairly simple, we do wish there was a built-in level indicator like the Chicco NextFit iX Baby Car Seat. Chicco’s levels help parents get the perfect angle in the vehicle seat. With this Safety 1st convertible car seat, you have to add a bit of pressure to get the belt at its tightest. Stabilizing the seat is doable for sure, but it just requires a bit more physical effort on the parent’s part, particularly when in a rear-facing position, than if it had a built-in lever.

The Grow and Go 3-in-1 is in the running for the title of best convertible car seat for the space it provides when rear-facing. The advantage here is that the front seat doesn’t have to be put far forward to allow room for the car seat, giving the person sitting in the front row a more comfortable ride. The extra 7 inches of legroom is great, especially for a tall adult.

While it does not have air protect advance side impact protection, it does contain safety features. It has a hearty polypropylene PDE plastic shell. Also, it has polystyrene in the headrest to protect the head and spine in case of a crash.

Convertible Car Seat Reviews Conclusion

The Safety 1st Grow and Go can last a family many years as it adjusts to comfortably and securely hold a child from 5-100 pounds. Adjusting seat placement, depending on the youngster’s weight, between back-facing, forward-facing, and the booster is straightforward, although a lever feature would be handy.

Overall though Safety 1st offers a model that excels when it comes to comfort and ease of removing the child from the seat. As well, it is light in weight, which makes transporting the seat to and from the vehicle less cumbersome than some other seats. Given our research, we consider it among the best convertible car seat models on the market.

Graco Extend2Fit Convertible Car Seat Review

Graco Convertible Car Seat Overview

The Extend2Fit model offers rear-facing and front-facing positions. This baby seat measures 22.1 x 19.2 x 25.2 inches and weighs 24 pounds. Here are its top features:

  • Extends for Extra Legroom
  • Simply Safe Adjust Harness
  • Budget Friendly

Visit Store

What Makes the Extend2Fit Convertible Car Seat Unique?

This seat is made to last longer, thanks to its extendable base. Simply extend the 4-position panel for more legroom for your child, which allows them to sit in rear-facing position longer safely. Thus, you can use the seat longer, no matter what kind of vehicle you have, and your child stays comfortable and safer as their legs grow. The longer lifespan provided by the extendable panel increases the value of this item that is already reasonably priced. Plus, parents will still have enough legroom in the front row, even with the full extension out.

What Parents Will Use Graco’s Extend2Fit Car Seat?

In rear-facing position, this convertible car seat is designed for a 4-50 pound child when the child’s head is 1 inch below the gray harness height adjustment handle. In the front-facing mode, it accommodates a child weighing 22-65 pounds who is up to 49 inches in height and at least one year old. Always read the manual for your chosen seat model to ensure you follow the safest guidelines for your little one in the vehicle.

Parents who want a simpler installation will also like that there are buckle storage pockets on the seat. Put the buckles in there, and you won’t have to spend time trying to dig them out again.

Our Thoughts: Evaluating the Pros & Cons

We think that Graco includes many great features here, which makes it amongst the best car seats available. For example, simply adjust the 10-position headrest to your child’s current height for comfort and keep doing so as they grow. The seat’s 6-position recline also enables them to have a comfy ride. There are two cup holders too for when your tyke is thirsty, and you can just throw the cover in the washing machine when it needs a clean.

As with most things though there are some flaws, although they are minor ones. For example, installing the belt works but it takes a bit of physical effort to get it into place. Also, this seat won’t transition into a booster like the Graco 4Ever 4-in-1 that has a 120-pound limit rather than Extend2Fit’s 50-pound maximum. Some online reviewers also explain that the seat is lower quality than some others. Then again, it is also lower priced than some other top 10 convertible car seat reviews too, which a parent on a budget is likely to appreciate about it.

On the plus side though is that the Extend2Fit has a Fuss Free Harness Storage that holds the buckle away so that you can easily and quickly get your baby in and out of the seat. This convenient feature is also available with the Safety 1st Grow and Go Convertible Car Seat.

What About the Convertible Car Seat Safety Features?

There are many safety features with the Graco convertible car seat. Most notably, it has a Simply Safe Adjust harness. The special harness adjusts for height, as does the headrest, without requiring you to rethread the harness painstakingly. It’s easy to adjust too; with just one motion you can alter both the harness and the headrest.

This convertible car seat also has a steel frame and has been thoroughly crash-tested and side-impact tested, giving you peace of mind that when your child is in the 5-point harness that you have put them in a safer position. Lastly, it has Graco’s exclusive InRight LATCH system (like the 4Ever 4-in-1) that not only makes installing the seat simple to do but also helps you install it properly for a safer seat.

Is the Graco Extend2Fit the Best Convertible Car Seat?

While the Graco Extend2Fit Convertible Car Seat has a few small misses, it has many great qualities at a reasonable price. The extendible base, for example, enables your child to sit rear-facing longer. A tall or growing child will like this! Also important are the many safety features, including the crash-testing and the Simply Safe Adjust Harness. The seat is comfortable too with six different reclining positions for your child.

These features help make for a safer, more comfortable car seat for your child, which is important for any parent. We like too that it is budget-friendly and has a no-rethread harness too. For these combined reasons we endorse the Extend2Fit as up for the title of the best convertible car seat for children who fit its weight and height requirements.

  • SureLATCH System
  • Transforms into a booster

What are the Evenflo Convertible Car Seat Child Restrictions?

As with our other convertible car seat reviews, we point out child height and weight requirements of this seat. For rear-facing, it is designed for a little one weighing 5-40 pounds with a height range of 19-40 inches. The child’s head must be at least 1 inch under the top of the seat back.

When in a forward-facing position, this seat accommodates a 22-65 pound child, given the weight is between 28-50 inches. For optimal safety, ensure the child’s ears are beneath the seat’s headrest and that they are 2 years old at the minimum.

For booster seat, your child must be 44-110 pounds and 44-57 inches tall. Look to make sure the tops of their ears fall below the top of the restraint seat. The booster is for a kid at least 4 years of age.

Convertible Car Seat Reviews: Is This All-in-One Seat Easy to Install?

Great question. The Symphony DLX features Evenflo’s exclusive SureLATCH system. This lower anchor setup enables the seat to connect to your car’s anchors and tighten automatically. The result is an easier installation than some other models in our convertible car seat reviews, such as the Graco Extend2Fit. It is a cinch to tighten the Evenflo model with its SureLATCH feature. The process is fast too, within only 60 seconds, so you and the little one are ready to go to the grocery store, visit family, or anywhere else you want to go today.

Safety of the Evenflo Convertible Car Seat

The Symphony DLX All-in-One features a 5-point infinite slide harness. It slides to your child’s body for a snug yet comfortable fit every time, even as your child is growing. You can rest well knowing your child is securely in place in the seat. Not only that but Evenflo uses their Superior e3 Side Impact Test to make sure it will be safer in case of a side impact. With Rollover Test Standards, Evenflo not only meets but exceeds the federal safety standards for a convertible car seat.

Are There Any Drawbacks?

Obviously no product is perfect. Our convertible car seat reviews show you the good and the flaws. The drawback on the Evenflo model is minor. It is heavier than some other seats, which can make it a bit uncomfortable to carry. But at nearly 25 pounds, it is only a bit heavier than some other models out there.

Is The Baby Seat Comfortable?

Yes, this convertible car seat keeps your child comfy while in the vehicle with an energy-absorbing foam liner, as well as an adjustable headrest that you can move with just one hand. There is even a body pillow for ultra-support and coziness. The reclining seat will enable you to get your little one into a position that they like for the drive.

As well, a great and unique feature of the Evenflo Symphony DLX All-In-One Convertible Car Seat that you won’t get with the Chicco NextFit iX Zip is the temperature-regulating fabric. As some babies tend to be hot and cold, this fabric helps them keep comfortable no matter what. A 3-walled cup holder is also a nice feature that can fit snacks while you’re on the go.

What We like The Best about This All-in-One

Our team gives the Symphony DLX a thumbs up for its ability to grow with your little one. It has not only front-facing and rear-facing positions but also a booster seat option. Thus, you can use it for your toddler too, which makes it a high-value product. Not having to buy a separate booster is a money saver that any parent can appreciate. Also, the pads can go into the washing machine, making it easy to clean.

Conclusions on the Evenflo Symphony DLX All-In-One Convertible Car Seat

There are many great points to reflect on about this Evenflo Convertible Car Seat. It has great safety features, including the side impact testing. Plus, it is comfortable for your little one, who can continue to use it when it comes time to need a booster. While the weight is heavier than some other baby seats, the installation is quick and easy, taking only a minute, and we think that point is more valuable for a parent. In summary, we support the Evenflo Symphony DLX as one of the top choices amongst the convertible car seat reviews we have done.

Will My Child Fit This Chicco Convertible Car Seat?

The recommended weight range for the NextFit iX Zip is 5-65 pounds. In rear-facing position, your child must be at least 5 and no more than 40 pounds. They must stay in rear-facing until at least 2 years old. As for forward-facing, the weight range is 22-65 pounds. This weight range is quite high, which means a child may be able to use it through to about age 5, provided that they fit within the safe weight ranges. Always abide by the recommendations in the included user manual.

This Chicco convertible car seat is made to transition from newborn through preschool with your little one. It has a 9-position headrest so it can adjust upward as your child grows. It will not go through the older years though, unlike some other models. T the Safety 1st Grow and Go, for example, can transition to a booster and hold a child up to 100 pounds. This NextFit convertible car seat will likely be used up until toddler age. But, how does the NextFit iX Zip rate for safety?

Looking for the Safest Convertible Car Seat

We address safety in our convertible car seat reviews as it is one of the top concerns for parents when shopping for a seat. The Chicco convertible car seat has many safety features, such as a deep, foam-lined shell for good side impact protection, and its frame is made of steel, with EPS energy-absorbing foam material. Plus, the included newborn insert offers extra head and neck support for your little bundle of joy who weighs 5-11 pounds.

Also, this seat has special features to help install it properly, which means better protection for your child. One example is the dual bubble level indicators. This side indicator shows you when the seat is properly angled in your vehicle, alongside the 9 available recline positions. It is on both sides of the baby seat to show you the proper position in both forward-facing and rear-facing. As it is in the running for the safest convertible car seat available, the Chicco NextFit iX Zip is in our opinion worth its higher price tag.

Unique Features from Other Convertible Car Seat Reviews

Chicco has exclusive technologies to offer a secure, comfortable fit for your child in the car seat, no matter what vehicle you have. They are LockSure and SuperCinch. The SuperCinch tightener gives a tight fit with minimal effort. It installs with LATCH. Also included are LockSure lock-offs that make putting the seatbelt exactly where you want it to go easier, as well as tightening and securing the seatbelt.

A one-hand pull of the harness tightener secures your child into place too. All of these attributes can be seen as additional safety features as they help protect your young child.

Plus, this seat has a zip-off seat pad. If your little one should accidentally make a mess on the material, simply unzip it to remove. There’s no struggling like with some other seats to get the cover off. Simply put it in the washing machine to clean and zip it back into place.

Additional NextFit iX Zip Benefits and Any Drawbacks

Another great feature is the no-rethread harness. As you child grows, you won’t have to worry about threading the harness to accommodate their added height properly. The re-threading process can be timely and having to fuss with a harness isn’t fun for parents. So the harness is made for less aggravation. Plus, the ComfortFlex harness has a waist belt with flexible sides to make getting your little one in and out of the Chicco convertible car seat a simple process.

What it lacks is minor, but it does not have a cup holder like some other top 10 convertible car seat reviews, such as the EvenFlo Symphony DLX. But we think the NextFit safety features are far more important than an optional cup holder. Also, we recognize most families have budgets, especially with young children, so this model that is in the upper tier price-wise for convertible car seats is not affordable for everyone.

Chicco Convertible Car Seat: It’s More Money, And It is Also Safer

In our opinion, NextFit iX Zip is one of the safest convertible car seats available today, from its EPS energy-absorbing foam to the steel frame and bubble level indicator, as well as the exclusive protective technologies LockSure and SuperCinch. While we recognize it will not fit every budget, we feel it provides a very secure fit for your newborn or preschooler if you can afford it. In other words, it is well worth the price, in our opinion.

Maxi-Cosi Pria 70 Convertible Car Seat Review

What are the Best Features of the Maxi-Cosi Pria 70?

The Maxi-Cosi Pria 70 stands out from other convertible car seat reviews we’ve written and here’s why. Its top features are:

  • Superior FlexTech safety
  • Self-wicking fabric for dryness
  • Comfortable body pillow

First Impressions

Plus, the Maxi-Cosi Pria 70 Black Gravel looks great in black and grey. The timeless color scheme will match most vehicle interiors too. We like that it is a neutral-colored unisex seat that will appeal to both boys and girls, unlike one that is bright pink or blue.

Maxi-Cosi Pria 70: Child Age and Height Range

As a convertible car seat, this model is designed to configure to your growing child from baby years through toddlerhood. It has rear- and forward-facing positions. The rear-facing seat is meant for a child 9-40 pounds, so even a big toddler will be able to stay in this position for a lengthy period. Meanwhile, the forward-facing position is for 22-70 pounds. The seat can accommodate a kid up to 52 inches tall.

That is quite a big weight range, which means your child can likely fit it for a long time. And that is good news as you can hopefully save money by using the same car seat for a while versus having to buy a new one after outgrowing an infant seat.

How Safe Is the Maxi-Cosi Pria 70 Black Gravel?

Safety is likely at the forefront of your mind as you strap your child into the car. And that’s why the Maxi-Cosi Pria 70 has advanced safety features, including the FlexTech system. This design provides multi-directional support in case of a crash.

The superior safety system combines with excellent Air Protect Side Impact Protection. Not every seat has that side impact shielding; in fact, it is patented technology. And in rear-facing position, the seat uses secure LATCH technology. With all of these features, you can feel confident that your child is safer in the convertible car seat.

Is it a Comfortable Convertible Car Seat?

When you’re on a long trip, there’s nothing worse than thinking your kid isn’t comfortable in their seat. And some convertible car seat reviews of other brands tell us that sometimes that happens. Thankfully the Maxi-Cosi Pria 70 isn’t one of those seats. It is made to be comfortable for your infant or toddler, both in the rear- and front-facing positions.

The seat even includes an Infant Support Insert with top-quality padding, so your baby fits a properly and comfortably in it. So you’ll avoid the seat being too big, as it might be with a petite infant.

And if your little one likes to nap while you drive then just put back the Maxi-Cosi Pria 70 convertible car seat into one of the three recline positions. Choose the best one for your child’s comfort, depending on their size and age, and given the size of your vehicle’s interior. In comparison to other brands, three reclining options are average, but there are other seats with up to six positions.

Customize the ride further to your boy or girl’s preference with the 5-point harness. It adjusts from the front to make it easier for you to alter the straps to fit your youngster without having to deal with removing the seat. When you’re busy and don’t have a lot of time to fiddle with a seat, that’s great to be able to do! Lastly, easily move the headrest up or down to fit your child’s height as they grow taller.

Are There Any Extra Features?

The convertible car seat is high value, meaning it provides great features without being overly expensive. Moreover, it comes with extras you don’t get with every vehicle seat on the market.

For example, there is an integrated cup holder. That’s handy to have with a toddler who gets thirsty on the road and can easily reach for their bottle. We do wish though that there could be two cup holders like some other models to add even more usefulness.

What makes up for that though is the self-wicking fabric on the seat. It’s not unusual for a child seat to leave your boy or girl feeling sweaty and hot after a long ride in it. We like that the Maxi-Cosi Pria 70 Convertible Car Seat with its quality fabric helps keep your child dry through to the end of the trip. Keeping them comfy helps your ride go smoother too.

Another great quality of the grey-and-black seat is its easily removable cover. While we’ve read convertible car seat reviews on covers that are almost impossible to take off when they’re stained, that’s not an issue with this one. It is simple to remove using the integrated snaps, and you don’t even have to take the seat out of the car to do it. Also, when you put the cover back on you won’t have to re-thread the harness, saving you time and energy.

Final Words on the Maxi-Cosi Pria 70 Convertible Car Seat Review

In conclusion, the Maxi-Cosi Pria 70 in Black Gravel is one that we support enthusiastically for a boy or girl who fits within the weight and height requirements for forward- and back-facing. The affordable car seat is made to grow with your child, and its design is very safety-focused. It also provides a more comfortable experience than some others on the market, thanks to the infant padding feature and self-wicking fabric.

Graco 4Ever 4-in-1 Car Seat Kylie: 3 Main Features

The Kylie seat has pink accents that stand out against gray and black for a fun, sporty look. The main features of this Graco convertible car seat are:

  • Goes beyond regular safety standards
  • Includes backless booster seat
  • A cinch to install

Is Graco’s 4Ever 4-in-1 Safe?

As a parent, this question will be at the forefront of your mind when looking at car seats, so we want to discuss it in-depth. While we’ve written a lot of convertible car seat reviews, we rarely find one that rates as highly as the Graco 4Ever 4-in-1.

For example, Graco has crash-tested and side-impact tested this seat in-depth. When it comes to its ratings, it has double the New Car Assessment Program’s car seat standard peak crash force. A big reason for that is the secure 5-point harness built into the seat. Also, warm temperatures did not negatively impact its ability to withstand a crash in Extreme Car Interior Temperature tests.

Furthermore, the 4Ever 4-in-1 Kylie goes beyond what several other infant car seats provide by way of design and construction. The seat frame and exterior has steel reinforcement, and the frame has energy-absorbing foam too. The result is a seat that is durable and stands up to the pressure one would experience in the unfortunate instance of a road accident.

Moreover, your kid can stay rear-facing up to 40 pounds, which is terrific for safety if you have a petite child. That’s more than many other convertible car seat reviews we’ve done where the back-facing position weight maximum is 30 or 35 pounds. There are even lower LATCH anchor connectors for use with a youngster up to 42 pounds.

Convertible Car Seat Reviews: Is it Comfortable?

In addition to staying safe, you’ll want your baby to be comfy during the ride. That’s why it’s great that the seat configures to fit your child’s growing height and weight. It faces to the rear for a child 4-40 pounds where their head is an inch under the headrest adjustment button when the headrest has full extension.

Then it becomes a front facing car seat when your kid is 22-65 pounds with height under 49 inches; usually it’s for children 2 years or older. Then there are two booster types – the high back and the low back. The high-back booster fits a 30-100 pound child with a 38-57 inch height; your kid ought to be 4 years old or more and able to hold themselves in the seat. The low-back booster, meanwhile, is for kids 4 years old or more and between 40-120 pounds and 40-57 inches tall.

To accommodate your child over the years there is a 10-position headrest. Adjust it easily with one hand to safely fit the current height of your little one.

But while the seat extends with your child’s growing body, it has less recline ability in certain vehicles as some other convertible car seat reviews. If your toddler likes to recline to sleep, for example, you may find a limitation with this infant seat. While the seat can go back in 6 possible positions, it doesn’t go all the way back in some sedans, as per a few online reviewers, unlike some other convertible car seats. While that’s fine for quick trips, longer journeys might prove difficult. Thus, we suggest that you always check car seat measurements before use in your specific car.

4Ever 4-in-1 Kylie from Graco: The Unique Booster Feature

While many convertible car seats go rear- and forward-facing, it is less common to have two booster seat options like the 4-in-1 Kylie. Often there is only a booster seat with a back to it. Graco offers two booster options: high-back and backless booster modes.

Going backless is nice when you’re on the go as it’s lighter weight than the version with the back and is more compact too. Plus your older kid might think it looks more grown-up than a car seat with a back.

How Easy is the Graco 4Ever 4-in-1 Convertible Car Seat to Install?

Thankfully, the 4Ever 4-in-1 Kylie is simple to install into most vehicles. If you’re in a rush, then this is great to hear. An exception will be if your interior has bucket seats as there’s less width then for the child seat. What makes the Graco easy to install though is the color-coded and labeled belt paths that tell you where to place them for each seat position. This system saves you having to read the manual every time you put your youngster in the vehicle.

Also, when the seat is back-facing, the built-in bubble lever makes it quick and easy to level the seat for a safer ride. Please note that you do have to manually switch the LATCH straps when you change the position of the convertible car seat.

Also simple is removing the cover from the infant seat. Some convertible car seat reviews cite other models that are difficult to remove the covers if your baby spills something on the fabric. We like the ease of removing the Graco cover, which is conveniently machine washable. Hang it to dry to ensure it fits when you put it back on later.

Final Thoughts on 4Ever 4-in-1 Kylie Car Seat Review

In conclusion, while Graco’s 4Ever 4-in-1 Kylie Convertible Car Seat is not perfect, it does have many benefits that are superior to other seats on the market. It goes well beyond the standard safety makeup, for example. And we like that there are four different configurations, including the backless booster. Just be sure it will fit the measurements of your vehicle’s seats to be able to fit properly. We recommend this convertible car seat for the infant to toddler years.

What is the Difference between a Baby Convertible Car Seat and Infant Car Seat?

We understand the vocabulary can be confusing! Here's a simple explanation. While an infant car seat always faces to the rear, a convertible car seat can face rear or forward in the vehicle seat. A convertible car seat is for birth to a height of 50 inches. Infant car seat is for newborns (birth to 30 pounds).

I’ve heard of the LATCH System – What Exactly is it

All convertible car seats are compatible with the LATCH system. These seats have been designed to accept this particular system since 2002, as have vehicles. You’ll find the seat has both lower anchors and a top tether strap, which is basically what comprises the LATCH system. Be sure to abide by the weight limit on your chosen convertible car seat or its box to safely install the seat with the seatbelt.

Is a Used Convertible Car Seat Okay

A second-hand convertible car seat could be worn out and therefore not provide the comfort your child deserves. Worse yet, if there were an auto accident, the seat might not have updated safety features or the original ones might be damaged, all of which puts the youngster in danger. There’s also the chance that the older model was recalled by the manufacturer for design flaws.

Lastly, a used seat likely won’t have the manual included that tells you weight and size restrictions for your child in front-facing, rear-facing, and booster positions. For all of these mentioned reasons, we do not recommend using a second-hand car seat.

What is the Typical Price of a 3-in-1 Car Seat

There is a range of pricing, as with most things. An all-in-one can run anywhere from $50 to $500. But just because a car seat is on the lower range of the price scale, don’t make the mistake of assuming it will be flimsy. The safest convertible car seat is one with a great harness and other safety features that we point out in our reviews. Browse the top 10 models here to find the best one for your child; there are options for a range of budgets.

What to Consider When Shopping for a Convertible Car Seat

When looking for a new convertible car seat, it’s important to consider a variety of factors as it is an important purchase for your family. Here are the top features to analyze when it comes to buying a car seat that can convert with your little one as they grow.

Safety Features. These attributes can vary from seat to seat but there are some commonalities to look for. Check to see if the convertible car seat has a sturdy frame and includes a secure harness. Other features can include side-impact protection and manufacturer crash testing.

Comfort Level. In addition to safety, a comfortable seat is amongst the top must-haves for many parents. Plush padding on the baby seat is usually desirable, as is a harness that is both secure and comfortable rather than one that aggravates your child.

Know Your Vehicle Dimensions. Here we are talking about the size of the interior of your vehicle. By knowing the interior measurements, you can find which convertible car seat is compatible with it.

Look at Your Lifestyle. Are you using the seat daily? If so, look for a lightweight seat. We give you the weight in many of our top 10 convertible car seat reviews, for your convenience. Also, if you are very busy then look at whether we’ve told you in the review whether the car seat is easy to install or not.

Your Child’s Measurements. These seats have child height and weight ranges, and you’re best to abide by them to keep your little one the safest. If you want to make the most of your purchase, look for a seat with a higher size limit so you can continue to use it as your tyke grows.

Budget Consideration. How much you can afford will also come into play here. Be aware that buying a mid-price convertible car seat doesn’t mean you’re getting a wimpy or unsafe seat. Rest assured some of the best convertible car seats are affordable.

Recalls. When you open up the box, you’ll see convertible car seat box, you’ll see a manufacturer’s card encouraging you to register the product in case there are recalls down the line. Do this as then you will hear if there are recalls. The safety of your child is vital so why wouldn’t you fill out this simple card?

Are Convertible Car Seats Washable

Great question! Yes, modern car seats typically have a washable fabric that you can remove, unlike in the old days. Some models have fabric pads that are easier to remove than others. Most of them can go into the washing machine. Air dry the cover, if you have the time, to prevent it from potentially shrinking and then not fitting properly back onto the seat. If your little bundle of joy has an accident or spills something now, you can usually wash the cover, and it’s as good as new after that.

Common Questions

What is a Convertible Car Seat?

Convertible car seats are usually bigger and a heavier weight than an infant-only seat. Some models start with a rear-facing position and then transition to forward-facing as the child grows. Meanwhile, others are 3-in-1 or “all-in-one” designs, which means they convert to a booster for older children who have outgrown the forward-facing position in the vehicle.

Will Spending More Money Get You the Best Convertible Car Seat?

Not necessarily. Sometimes the car seat that is in the mid-price range offers more years of use or extra safety features in comparison to a more expensive one. By reading our comprehensive reviews, you can determine which one is a good fit for your little one and the family as a whole.

How Do I Know Size and Weight Restrictions?

Each model comes with this information, and we outline the size and weight guidelines in many of our top 10 convertible car seat reviews. The manual that you get with your best convertible car seat states the front-facing and rear-facing height and weight limits so you can abide by them for the safest ride possible for your youngster.
